Schoolgirl Gemma raises vital funds for brain cancer research

Six-year-old schoolgirl Gemma Cimilli has given her flowing brown locks the chop to raise vital funds for brain cancer research and advocacy.

The Como West Primary student raised a sensational $1,200 by cutting her waist-long hair at the school’s Superhero Day fundraising event on November 8.

Gemma recently lost her close friend to brain cancer, and was motivated to increase awareness of the brutal disease.

Superhero Day was an overwhelming success, with Gemma’s haircut the main attraction. All 300 staff and students packed into the school’s basketball court to witness the event and make invaluable donations.
