We are enormously grateful to Macquarie Bank and the Macquarie Group Foundation for raising funds for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation at their annual Trivia Night — a powerful demonstration of what’s possible when purpose and community come together.
Funds raised will directly support the National Advocacy Service, Australia’s only dedicated, brain cancer-specific navigation and advocacy program. The service provides tailored, one-on-one support to patients, families and carers at every stage of their brain cancer journey. With no government funding, its continuation depends entirely on the generosity of our community and partners like Macquarie.
What made the evening especially meaningful was the personal connection behind it. Event lead Gaelyn was inspired to champion the cause after her friend Alistair passed away from brain cancer in July 2025. Seeing firsthand the devastating impact of this disease turned a fundraising event into something far more powerful: a tribute, and a way to help others facing a similar path.
“I just wanted to do something in a situation where there’s nothing you can do,” says Gaelyn.
Funds raised on the night were matched by the Macquarie Group Foundation, helping drive the total to more than $225,000, a powerful reminder that when organisations back the causes their people care about, the impact can be profound.
“Being encouraged to give back to a cause that is so deeply important to me and supported in that by my colleagues has, without a doubt, been the highlight of my Macquarie career. It’s amazing to see the impact that we can have when we all come together.”
