Cure Brain Cancer Foundation (CBCF) was honoured to attend the Australian Children’s Brain Cancer Conference (ACBCC) in Brisbane last week.
Bringing together world-leading researchers, clinicians, and early-to-mid-career scientists, ACBCC is founded on the belief that collaboration fuels innovation, providing a platform for cutting-edge research, fresh ideas, and new directions in paediatric brain cancer treatment.
Over the past three years, the conference has featured internationally renowned speakers and groundbreaking research from leading Australian scientists. It has also deliberately included experts from outside the brain cancer field, introducing fresh perspectives and emerging technologies with potential applications for paediatric treatment. This cross-disciplinary approach continues to push the field forward, ensuring research is not just progressing but evolving in exciting new ways.
Held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, this year’s event highlighted key advances, including insights from the Paediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium, discoveries into the origins of paediatric tumours, novel relapse prevention strategies, breakthroughs in the tumour microenvironment, personalised treatments, and promising developments in epigenetic therapeutics.
Beyond the formal presentations, the conference’s greatest impact came from the dynamic discussions and collaborations it fostered. Having leading experts and emerging scientists in the same room sparked new ideas, challenged existing paradigms, and laid the groundwork for future breakthroughs.
