New Clinical Trial for Children With DIPG

A clinical trial for children with DIPG (the most lethal form of childhood brain cancer) will open at the Sydney Children’s Hospital during 2021.

In 2018, the Foundation funded early research to investigate the polyamine pathway, which plays a key role in the growth of cancer cells. This research was funded through the DIPG Collaborative, an international collective of partners dedicated to finding a cure for DIPG, of which CBCF is a foundational partner.

CEO, Lance Kawaguchi shared, “Treatment options such as this are urgently needed for this disease. Our foundation will continue to fund opportunities of this nature and ensure the Australian community is connected with cutting edge medical research that impacts our community.”

Director, Research and Investment, Stephanie Quattromani – who oversaw the implementation of the Foundation’s commitment said, “The combination drug therapy identified in this study offers hope to children diagnosed with DIPG and their families. We look forward to seeing this trial open later this year.”

We will keep you updated to the progress of the trial as results are known.
