Scientists at the Children’s Cancer Institute (CCI) in Sydney, Australia have published a new set of results in the international journal – Cell Reports – this week.

The research focuses on new-found treatment options for the deadliest form of childhood brain cancer – Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). The feature drug known as CBL0137, has been found to reverse the effects of the key DIPG drivers and have greater impacts when used in combination with Panobinostat – a histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor.

In 2018, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation funded approximately AUD$123,000 for the initial research project and have provided ongoing support through our membership of the globally connected DIPG Collaborative.

Researchers are planning to test this drug combination in a new trial, which we hope to see further details of in the near future.
