The team from Macquarie University is renowned for their research into immunotherapy treatments for melanoma patients. Their research has resulted in positive outcomes for melanoma patients with metastatic brain tumours. They also identified similarities between patients with metastatic brain tumours and those with glioblastoma. This grant will allow them to apply this knowledge and expertise into glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain cancer.
This research project will analyse glioblastoma tumours that have been removed in surgery, for immune markers. These markers will identify the patients likely to respond to immunotherapy treatments. Researchers will also investigate why some patients do not respond to immunotherapy treatment, and design new drug combinations to overcome this.
