The team from University of Melbourne, led by Dr. Andrew Morokoff, will develop a blood test for glioma. This blood test will provide accurate, non-invasive, cheap and rapid information about a tumour, which will inform diagnosis and prognosis. In particular, this test would be used to monitor a glioma tumour after surgery. The test could even be more accurate than MRI and could save patients from unnecessary repeat surgery or chemotherapy.
This study will validate a glioma blood test in 200 patients. If successful, the blood test will be able to help improve monitoring in all future clinical trials, and also improve the accuracy of information and the quality of life for those with brain cancer.
