We are cheering for our superstar Team Penny Nagle at City2Surf this week.
Made up of 11 girls who attend Loretto College, Normanhurst, the girls, some who board and some who are day students, are friends for life. United by their lifelong friendship and a heartfelt connection to Nellie’s late mother, Penny Nagle, who battled Glioblastoma, the team is on a mission to raise funds and find a cure for brain cancer. Their dedication and passion have already raised over $8,000 for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, proving that together, they can make a difference.
A Mission to Conquer Brain Cancer
Penny Nagle was not only a cherished leader in the Singleton community but also a loving mother, wife, and friend. Tragically, she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in August 2022 and passed away just two months later at the age of 48. Nellie, her daughter, reflects on the rapid progression of the disease and the limited treatment options available. It was through the experience of attending Walk4BrainCancer at Centennial Park in 2022, where they heard CEO Lance Kawaguchi’s compelling speech, that the team was inspired to support the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation’s groundbreaking research efforts.
With a resolute motto of “We Won’t Stop Until Brain Cancer Does,” Team Penny Nagle stands as a true testament to determination and hope. Their commitment to the cause will be on full display as they cross the finish line at City2Surf on Sunday, August 13th.
