CEO Lance Kawaguchi welcomes Professor Hui Gan as the newest member of Cure Brain Cancer’s Scientific Advisory Committee.  

Professor Hui Gan is the founding member of ABCARA, which is focused on creating an Australian research alliance to drive and deliver excellence in brain cancer research that will improve the lives of brain cancer patients worldwide. The alliance is focused on translational research and hinged on a collaborative national research effort to expand technological and human infrastructure in cancer research.  

As the lead clinician-scientist at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute (ONJCRI) Professor Gan and his team are primarily focused on developing better therapies for rare cancers such as brain tumours, including a strong focus on antibody-based therapies against EGFR and other members of the ErbB family. He has been involved in the development of drugs for brain cancer including depatuxizumab mafodotin and ifabotuzumab. He is also the Co-Director of the ONJCRI Centre for Research Excellence for Brain Cancer.  

A medical oncologist at Austin Health (Melbourne), Professor Gan specializes in primary brain tumours and Phase 1 clinical trials. He is the Medical Director of the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit at Austin Health. He is also the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology (COGNO).
